What occasion may it be,
That brings this uproar that I see?
Have you not heard?
GOD IS ON TRIAL TODAY!
His creations from all over the land
Bring their charges to the witness stand.
Voices rise, tempers flare,
The jury shake their fingers and glare.
The evidence is plain for all to see;
The verdict is out! God is guilty!
Down comes the hammer, the judge thunders,
"God, what do YOU have to say?"

Part 2
Above the noise and the din
That a myriad of voices brings,
An orchestrated sound it seems,
Resonating like a horrible scream.
Guilty! Guilty! Guilty!
What must be done to appease
The blinding wrath of a creation demanding to see justice?
All this while the Lord stands by
And watch the proceedings with ne'er a reply.
Part 3
See His hands and His side,
The blood that flows out of His back;
O the depths of sorrow and pain,
Written on His gruesome face;
That one moment of great despair
Born out of a separation rare;
A separation that never was, Nor ever will be;
When the Father turns HIs face away
From the One in whom He is well pleased.
Love flows in crimson red,
So costly and yet so free.
Part 4
Still the people continue to rage
As many more join in to debate
On a punishment that cannot wait
To deliver it to the Ancient of Days they hate.
"Only the harshest will suffice
To appease our souls and heal our wounded pride."
God is hereby sentenced to humiliation and death.
Part 5See how, as He hung upon the cursed tree,
The nails they drove through His hands and His feet,
Did not distract Him from what He came to bring
Light and hope to a world lost and darkened by sin.
In that defining moment even as the crowd mocked,
"If thou be the Christ, come down from the cross,",
With His dying breath He gasped and prayed,
"Father, forgive them,
For they know not what they do."
